Learn about the vision for VITALITY

Our 2020 Vision for Greater Cincinnati

with help from the volunteers of VITALITY Cincinnati, Inc.

During these next ten years, we imagine, pray/meditate daily, and share our gifts so that . . .

The people of Greater Cincinnati are among the healthiest and happiest people of the world.

College graduates and young adults skilled in the arts or in a trade choose to stay in Greater Cincinnati because they want their careers and families to thrive.

People from all over the world look to Cincinnati as a model for what their cities can become . . . a place for healing, growth, and happiness. And that healing and happiness in Greater Cincinnati spreads throughout the whole world.

So much more is possible in our city! We at VITALITY Cincinnati know that the vision you just read above is possible for us all to bring to reality by the year 2020. We all know what a great city we live in, yet we consistently rank very poorly in nation-wide health surveys:

* Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index Survey 2009 ranked Ohio 47th out of 50 states, with Cincinnati among the lowest 20% metropolitan areas.

* Cincinnati Business Courier reported in November 2009 that, according to the United Health Foundation, Ohio ranked among the twenty least healthy states (33rd); categories for this study included concerns such as obesity, smoking, binge drinking, access to health care, health policies, and clinical care data.

* In Self Magazine’s 2009 ranking of the healthiest places for women, Cincinnati was 85th out of 100 cities.

* Sperling’s Best Places’ ranking of most stressful cities placed Cincinnati at 65th most stressful out of 100, and their ranking of best large cities in which to live placed Cincinnati at 48th out of 50 cities surveyed with Cincinnati ranked 3rd from the last of healthiest cities to live.

Working together, we can change this! VITALITY Cincinnati offers a way toward health and inner transformation that will assist the 2020 Vision in becoming reality.

We at VITALITY Cincinnati are a group of friends bringing affordable, holistic self-care education and practice to people of all income levels in the Greater Cincinnati area, especially those populations who usually are not able to pay for these services: low-income families/individuals, college-students, our elders. Our services include Healing Touch sessions and education, yoga and tai chi classes, journaling and reflection classes, meditation education/practice, and introduction to other holistic modalities . . . all offered in exchange for community service (1 hour of service = 1 hour of programming).

These friends below have committed to a daily, personal spiritual practice: prayer, yoga, mindful gardening, journaling, tai chi, meditation . . . anything that roots us in compassion for all. They offer at least one moment a day of prayer/meditation for the health and happiness of the people of Greater Cincinnati.

There are so many ways to allow ourselves to be renewed . . . so many spiritual practices that connect us with those resources of health and happiness that already exist within us. Will you sign up to pray or meditate daily – even for one minute is great! – in whatever way you pray or meditate for the health and happiness of Greater Cincinnati? Come, let’s discover together all that is possible!
